ARKAI - Your Next Favorite Band
Even when you hear the description "genre-defying electro-acoustic duo" that does not even begin to describe the brilliance that is ARKAI. Jonathan Miron and Philip Sheegog are Julliard trained, but not limited by the constraints that classical training can sometimes put up - and perhaps even hold dear.
The soundscapes that they are dreaming up and orchestrating are mind-bending, and you have to see it to believe it. They can often sound like a full orchestra of players, but it is just the two of them. And they generate some of the most beautiful, sweet tones, balance with some heavier rock elements that delight. I often find myself smiling just listening and watching them perform.
Their recent release Crossroads is a journey. We spend time hearing all about it, and the many stories behind the music, as well as the gorgeous videos that shot for the 3 singles out thus far.
We'll also hear about their early inspirations - amazingly Jonathan was handed a cello first, but had to switch to violin, and Philip wanted to play music listening to his sister play violin, and was invited to take up the cello. This type of beautiful symmetry and the universe being on their side shows up time and again in the story of ARKAI. Enjoy!
